Frequently Asked QuestionsCongratulations on your engagement, and welcome to Claire Pettibone. The following are a few answers to common questions to help you understand this exciting (and sometimes overwhelming!) process. If you are purchasing a Claire Pettibone gown through one of our wonderful salons, you will need to contact them directly to confirm their specific policies, but these answers should give you a general idea of what to expect when shopping for your gown.
How do the bridal appointments work?At Claire Pettibone, we believe the process of choosing your gown should be fun and relaxed. We want you to enjoy trying on different styles, and our sales associates will help you choose the gown that sets the desired tone for your wedding and expresses your personal style. In most bridal salons you will find a selection of size 10 samples. Since most of us are not an exact sample size, you may have to visualize how the dress will look once it is made to your size. Try not to dismiss a dress simply because the sample doesn’t fit properly! Remember to focus on style, fabric, color and details when making your choice.
What should I bring to my appointment? We suggest you wear nude, seamless undergarments. Pictures of your favorite Claire Pettibone gowns from magazines and our website are welcome. For your first visit, keep an open mind to try some styles that the sales associate may suggest. With our years of experience helping brides look beautiful, we often present a suggestion that ends up being "the one".
Who should I bring with me to my appointment? We suggest a maximum of 2 guests, usually your mother and a friend or sister. If too many opinions are offered, it can create confusion. Reminder to friends and family: You may have a set idea of how you see the bride for this occasion that differs from the bride’s vision. Remember this is her day, and she needs your love and support in finding a gown that expresses her unique personality and beauty. We often find a gown that meets (and exceeds!) all expectations.
Is the dress I am interested in always at the salon?Because we have Trunk Shows around the country, and magazines often request our gowns for photo shoots, it is possible that a particular gown you want to see may be out. Please let the salon know when scheduling your appointment if there are specific dresses that you are interested in, so that we can make every effort to have a sample there for you to see.
Are photographs allowed in the salon? To protect the design integrity, photographs will only be allowed after the gown is purchased. Once you have made your choice, most salons will permit you to snap away!
What is the price range of the Claire Pettibone collection?Claire Pettibone gowns start at $1,600 and go upwards of $10,000. On average, our most popular styles range from $2,500 to $4,500.
How long does it take to make my gown? All of our gowns are made to order, and generally take between 4-6 months for completion. You are not buying "off the rack" and that is part of what makes a Claire Pettibone gown so special. Claire works with the finest couture fabric mills in Europe to create custom, one-of-a-kind laces, embroideries, and fabrics for her collection. Hundreds of hours go into hand made silk flowers, beading and laces. Once the fabric is received, we cut and sew your gown in our Los Angeles atelier. You must also allow about 6-8 weeks for final fittings and alterations. Despite this labor intensive process, we can often accommodate rush orders, so please ask.
How and when do I pay for the gown?A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to place your order. The balance is due when the dress is complete. Given that our gowns are made to order, all sales are final. There are no refunds, exchanges or credits available. Thank you for your consideration. |
